Filling in the blanks
Still going…filling in the details.
Fabric light and shade
A testing time coming up with a way to show the indentations of the stitching on the fabric. Happy this time after a failed attempt but learning all the way. Just need to fill in each oval now….that ‘s Saturday taken care of…
Festival of the moon
Tintern Abbey in the Wye valley hosted a festival of the moon with a large balloon suspended between the columns of the Abbey. As darkness fell the blue illuminations and ambient music made for a magical time.
A blurred photo captured the other worldliness perfectly.
Nearly there
Lots still to do but looking more like Frank all the time.
Black & white
Such amazing shapes and lines with intricate suggestion of perspective.
Framed
Customers own choice of framing sets off this double portrait beautifully.
Phone lit
By phone light….a modern version of candlelight portraits.
Preps by way of distraction.
As a break from the large ‘Picnic’ painting a smaller homage to to the candle lit paintings of the 17/18 & 19th Centuries. I will need to blend the paint well here… a new challenge.
During a storm all lights were off to observe the lightening…except one. .

Practicing painting the fabrics
Off for consideration
Little Remi’s ‘Baby blues’ portrait is off for consideration to enter a competition. The theme is ‘Reflections’…..
Baby blues
Little Remi lay on the picnic blanket one summer looking up to the sky as the whole world seemed reflected back. The pure blue panoramic landscape curled around his eyes in reflected shades. Looking toward me were the watery glass like circles of youth as his eyes started to take in his surroundings. His squinted focus getting to grips with the brightness around him he looked and looked and looked.
